If the opposition loses the self-government elections then the demand to conduct the repeat parliamentary elections will lose its legitimacy - Girchi

Members of the Girchi and Citizens opposition parties met today in order to discuss the current political crisis and made an offer to other opposition parties. Iago Khvichia from Girchi said after the meeting that they have an offer to other opposition parties.

“If the opposition wins self-government elections this year, let’s then demand and hold repeat parliamentary elections in 2022. If the opposition loses the self-government elections then the demand to conduct the repeat parliamentary elections will lose its legitimacy anyway.

The release of political prisoners, election reform and the holding of repeat elections are our demands in terms of priorities, 5 other opposition parties put the holding of repeat elections on the top of their demands. However, the ruling party is very unlikely to accept repeat elections”, - said Khvichia.
