"The Election Code and System should be thrown into the trash bin," - Giorgi Akhvlediani

One part of the non-parliamentary opposition was not invited to a meeting planned at the parliament, which should have discussed the electoral system. That is why the leaders of the parties will try to reach the government in any other way.
20 opposition parties will submit to the parliament the signatures of citizens with a demand to annul the majoritarian election system. They are asking for a fully proportional system.
"This campaign is a social impact campaign on the government, I would like to advise Bidzina Ivanishvili to show the political will not to resist the opinion of the Georgian people and give the country and voters the opportunity to elect the Government," said Bachuki Kardava, the chairman of the National Democratic Party.
Giorgi Akhvlediani, the member of the main board of the Democratic Movement-United Georgia states that constitutional amendments are necessary for the full functioning of the electoral system, which means the abolition of the majoritarian system.
"The election code and system are to be thrown in the garbage bin, so a lot of things are to be changed, we should start with the system change," said Giorgi Akhvlediani.
